About who-calling.eu
who-calling.eu is a simple tool that helps you find out who called you from an unknown phone number and whether it makes sense to answer the call. The goal of this project is to reduce the number of annoying, scam and marketing calls while giving users the opportunity to share their own experiences with specific phone numbers.
Why this project was created
The idea for who-calling.eu came when I started receiving more and more calls from unknown numbers — call centers, "investment offers", "exclusive deals", and similar. Instead of checking numbers on multiple different websites every time, I wanted to have one clear place where I could quickly find out what type of call it was and also contribute my own experience to help others.
How who-calling.eu works
- Enter the phone number that called or texted you into the search field.
- If the number has already been reviewed, you will see a summary rating, search count, and user comments.
- You can add your own comment describing the type of call and whether you would recommend answering the number or ignoring it.
Community phone number database
In this way, a community-driven database of phone numbers is gradually being built, helping other users decide whether to answer, reject, block or avoid returning the call altogether.
Privacy and data protection
Respecting user privacy is important to me. The website does not store any sensitive personal data such as ID numbers or addresses. Comments are user-generated content, and users should not include personal data of third parties. Access logs (such as IP address and browser type) are processed only for technical and security purposes and for basic traffic statistics.
Advertising and project funding
Running the project (hosting, domain, development of new features) has its costs, and therefore the website is partly financed through advertising. Advertising:
- does not influence phone number ratings or search result ordering,
- is not used by me for profiling individual users,
- helps keep the service free of charge and ensures its long-term development.
Future development
In the future, I plan to expand the project with more detailed call-type filtering, lists of frequently reported numbers, one-click reporting of suspicious numbers, and additional language versions. If you have any ideas for features that are missing, I will be glad to hear your feedback.
Who is behind the project
Behind who-calling.eu is one independent developer who enjoys combining IT solutions with protecting users from scam and nuisance calls. The website is not affiliated with any telecom operators, call centers, or marketing agencies.
