Stay calm

A sudden call that tries to scare you or push you into a quick decision can be very unpleasant. Try to stay calm and remember that you are in control of the situation.

Steps during the call

  • Do not share personal or financial information.
  • Do not install remote access software because of a phone call.
  • Do not open suspicious links sent by SMS or email.
  • If you feel uncomfortable, simply end the call.

Steps after the call

  • Search the phone number on the internet and check feedback from other people.
  • If it is confirmed as spam or scam, leave your own comment to warn others.
  • Block the number in your phone settings.

If you have already shared sensitive data or approved a payment, contact your bank immediately and ask for help. In serious cases consider contacting the police.
